Rejoice! You Can Now Shop This Clean Indie Brand at Target

Updated: Jul 6, 2019

The Austin-based brand is one of my faves.

One of my favorite humans of all time just moved to Austin, Texas to become a college professor. (She's literally one of those teachers with a chili pepper by her name on RateMyProfessor.com.) With Texas on the brain, I can't help but think of Olive + M, the Austin-based, clean skincare line hitting the shelves of 100 Target stores this summer.

“Olive + M was started because I wanted to create an eco-luxury, effective and affordable face oil that a single mom could plug into her budget, as I was one at the time," says founder and Austinite, Mariska Nicholson.

On July 14, Olive + M's "mainstream" debut signifies another step into legitimacy for the clean beauty space. In a world where many still seek out "oil-free" labels (don’t do that), this forward-thinking, holistic gem of a company is unabashedly beauty oil-centric.

And not just with regards to olive oil. They incorporate botanical blends, like CBD-containing hemp, into their 100% natural formulations. Target's continued endorsement of the clean cause reflects public readiness to embrace eco-friendly and non-toxic beauty.

"[Initially] face oils were very exclusive and expensive," Nicholson continues. "I was on a mission to build a brand that offered inclusive, clean beauty products without compromising quality."

The costly is why Nicholson's partnership with Target, via the 2019 Target Takeoff Accelerator program, seeks to make the brand more accessible.

"I knew eventually a mass retail partner would be a good fit for the brand, so I could reach all the women I wanted to reach," she states. "Our goal at Olive + M is to be in every household and to bring clean beauty to all, and Target allows us to elevate that brand ethos.”

This win for the indie beauty brand — and the health of the public at-large — reminds me that Texas does have a great reputation when it comes to skincare, after all.

For proof, look no further than celebrity esthetician Renée Rouleau, founder of the eponymous, cult skincare line, and herself a beacon of skincare knowledge (whom I recently interviewed for an upcoming FabFitFun piece).

In other Texas news, the clean beauty retailer Lovejay has opened it's doors in the Austin area. If you have friends in Texas, point them in their direction.

Here are the six Olive + M skincare products that will soon be available to shop at Target this July. P.S. I love the body scrub!

Face Oil, $28

The line's best-seller combines olive, rice bran, pumpkin seed, pomegranate, rosehip, and calendula oils with select extracts to hydrate, repair, brighten, and heal your complexion.

Cleansing Oil, $36

Olive, castor seed, sunflower seed, and hemp oils make this an excellent facial cleanser and makeup remover. You won't believe how easily 1-2 pumps will remove your makeup with a warm wash cloth. Then follow-up with your regular cleanser and continue your nighttime routine.

Shimmer + Glow Body Oil, $38

This amazing body oil imparts shimmer and hydration for a god-like, summertime glow.

Antioxidant Balm, $36

One of my favorites for dry lips or anywhere your skin needs some extra TLC.

Face Polish, $32

The gentle scrub contains exfoliating beads unlike any other facial polish I’ve tried. I also felt like it left my face plumped, aided by my improved micro-circulation.

Body Oil, $24

I am a major fan of layering body oils with body butters and lotions — preferably a ceramide-packed one by Epionce that will restore my itchy legs to calm.
